Healing & Relief: Navigating Anxiety, Cronic Pain & trauma through Cannabis

I know, it sounds wild, but it was my first real toothache, and since then, it’s just come and gone. Sometimes the pain wasn’t too bad, and sometimes it felt unbearable. Growing up, my teeth were always more sensitive than my little sister’s. She could eat candy after candy and never had a cavity, but me? I’d have one piece, and I’d end up with five cavities! The dentist even gave me special toothpaste because of how sensitive my teeth were. At 20, I had a root canal done, but it was a disaster. I mean, they all are, but this one was worse. The dentist seemed really nervous, and I think that affected his work. Funny enough, he kept stopping and asking me if I smoked weed (which I didn’t at the time). He kept judging me based on my locs and twisted hair, assuming I did. It was odd. But anyway, after that, my mouth issues just got worse. The pain and health of my mouth deteriorated, and there were times I thought I might die from the excruciating pain. Blood pressure spikes can be dangerous, and I had grown up in and out of hospitals, with botched dental work, so I never wanted to see another hospital again!


I made a vow to myself: I would dedicate my life to healing and understanding the root cause of the pain that plagued me — dental pain included. I studied, read books, and developed some really effective protocols, including holistic, herbal, and homeopathic dental care packages. I even charted my ancestral traumas and connected them to my dental pain, uncovering so much about myself along the way.


One thing I realized during this process was that a lot of my issues were related to holding energy in my mouth. I wasn’t speaking up when I needed to. I was holding my words back, and that, combined with a poor diet, created serious problems with my gums and teeth. Over the years, I lost teeth — sometimes more than one in a year — before I started figuring things out. Along with my care packages and dental routine, which proved to be great preventative measures, I discovered cannabis medicine. It wasn’t just great for pain; it brought me peace and balance, too. Imagine living with pain all the time — it’s traumatizing.


Cannabis really worked wonders, and I wanted to understand why.

I started diving deep into the endocannabinoid system, a body system discovered by scientists in the 90s. This system controls the body’s C1 and C2 receptors, which are crucial to how we experience pain and healing. It’s a game changer. The endocannabinoid system tells the body what to do, from stopping pain to strengthening immunity, to re-aligning the body to its optimal state. It even improves brain health and helps clear trauma by healing the nervous system.


One day, I went hiking on a beautiful Georgia day, took some cannabis for pain, and thought to myself, “Why not take it even when I’m not in pain?” So I did, and that’s when a new version of myself was born. Healing trauma isn’t easy, but it’s incredibly rewarding. Many people seek power, but healing itself is power. Cannabis helped me unravel years of trauma, pain, and unfortunate circumstances.


Cannabis is indigenous to the Americas, and we have some of the greatest medicines here. It was one of the first plants colonized, and indigenous people were separated from their medicine, traditions, and ways of life. Hemp, derived from cannabis, was used to make everything from ropes to paper to clothing — soldiers even wore hemp pants because they lasted so long. It was used in virtually every medicine, no matter the ailment.
